GOOSE Messaging

GOOSE messaging replaces hardwired trip circuits with multicast Ethernet frames, enabling substation-wide protection coordination without copper wiring. VLAN tagging and priority queuing guarantee deterministic delivery below 3ms for critical protection signals.

Synchrophasor-Based WAMPAC

Synchrophasors (PMUs) provide sub-cycle voltage and current phase angle measurements at 30-120 samples/second. Wide area protection schemes use PMU data to detect inter-area oscillations, voltage instability, and out-of-step conditions across hundreds of kilometers.

Equipment

The Smart Grid Platform aggregates relay and PMU data. The SCYC-CW30 Monitor monitors distribution ring circuits. The Surge Arrester Monitor tracks arrester condition. The Overhead Line Monitor provides line parameters. The Cable Current Monitor detects sheath faults.
